BHIS is designed to be the behavioral complement to therapy services. BHIS addresses skill deficits that, if improved upon, will increase the person’s ability to function successfully at home and in the community. These skills can include, but are not limited to: social skills, communication skills, decision making skills, anger management and coping skills. An assessment is completed by the child’s current therapist or may be completed with a therapist at New Beginnings upon request. A BHIS treatment plan will be created to meet the needs of the child and the family. The therapist will submit an authorization request for services to the child’s Medicaid provider. Habilitation services are provided in collaboration with case management services within Polk, Dallas, Warren and Madison counties through Broadlawns Medical Center and Eyerly Ball.
